End of AP Testing

Well, I took 4 AP Exams this year.

Not Fun.

And... I took them.

And... Now I don't have anything to do in my classes.

And... That's all.

January SAT Scores

Well now... I took the SAT Back in January, and I finally got the scores back. Hoo-RAY!

Scores were disappointing. Hoo-eh...
Critical Reading: 700
Math: 660
Writing: 650 (9 Essay)

Unless my terrible 88th percentile math skills are incorrect, that adds up to a 2010. Sadly, when I took the SAT in May 2004, (That's 8th Grade), I scored a 630 in math. a 30 point improvement over 3 years... LAME.
This is kinda good; I was hoping for over a 2000. I got what I wanted, but not really. Looks like I'm taking SAT:June!

(come back feb/24 for a full report on how much I sucked)

Celtic Suite (Part 2)

Celtic Suite!

Okay, we're not playing this for Solo/Ensemble, but for Evening with the arts, we are playing this superawesome suite. I'm playing Bari, so I get that crazy solo!

Zooomr, Like Flickr, but cooler and free-er

DSCN3470

Look! It's us in Downtown St. Louis!

Anyways, I've found this new photo-sharing site called Zooomr.

It's a more full-featured version of flickr, and if I post a picture
to my blog, I get 2.5 gb free space. Therefore, I'm going to post
it to my blog. Anyway, it features geotagging, which is like
telling everywhere the exact location of where you took that picture.
It's cool, and I'm about to geotag this exact photograph.

Later,
andrew

St. Louis Band Trip!

Come look at them! They're Pretty!

Blah Blah Blegh

It's been 7 weeks since school has started.

It's felt like 7 months.

So now, since I haven't done this yet this year, a walkthrough of my schedule.

1- Band- Westbrook

eh. Our show this year is called "Frames of Reference", and although it has nothing to do with the music, it's nice. We're almost done with the show, and Hopefully, it'll be one of Westmoore's best years. (I'm aiming for 2nd place at OBA)

2-AP Language and Composition- Crook

We just got through reading "The Scarlet Letter". It was possibly the worst book I've ever read. Actually, I only read six chapters. But now we're reading "The Crucible", which is a far more entertaining and readable story. There's not much I can say about Mrs. Crook. She's Nice, I guess...

3-AP US History- Pennington

APUSH stinks. However, it's not as bad as I've been led to believe all last year. It's hard, but not that hard. Yet. Even with all the hard work, Mrs. Pennington and her lectures keep me quite entertained and such. I actually like going to history.

4-AP Chemistry- Willingham

Pretty much the same as last year- still scatterbrained and hard to follow, still weird, and she still expects a whole lot. A whole lot. She expects that you've read the chapter and know what everything means before you go to class or she assigns anything. It's just as hard as APUSH, but I still love chemistry.

Unlike last year, everything this year actually makes sense. Maybe it is because I've done this before, but I like chemistry a lot more this year.

(Next Day, when 2column notes are due- "Aaaargh. I hate chemistry")

eh.

5-AP Calculus BC- Smalley

Pretty much the same as last year. Ms. Smalley's like Willingham's polar opposite.
She's crazy organized, plans lessons to a T (she pre-works all of her problems and writes them down beforehand, so they're perfect for class. Except today), and she's very very normal. However, they're almost exactly the same in that they both expect a whole lot. A whole lot, and they are both the best teachers I've had. Ever. Ever.

Unlike last year, everything this year actually makes sense. Since everything builds on each other, everything's coherent and easy to understand and remember.

6-Spanish III- Castellanos

This is pretty much a blowoff class. I get a lot more work done in this class than over lunch. Mrs. Castellanos is a really nice person. Really nice. However, her personality as a teacher, eh.

She's very quiet and reserved, and she subordinates to some of the kids. not subordinates, but she's not fully in power all of the time.

She's a really nice person though. And I still like spanish. Kinda.

eh.

(8:01- I'm tired of Math and Chemistry. Uggh)

Andrew is STUPID, part II

So, Today, I was in the middle of playing Xbox, and I got a call from Silvia or Sylvia or however you spell her name from Albertsons. She asked me if I was still interested in the job.

Job? What Job? (thought process, not speech)

And I realized then that I applied at Albertson's like a month ago.

Oh. That Job. (again, inside my head)

I said no, because of time implications.
(I said no because not only will I not be available all August, I also have to read 2 books in 4 weeks and do projects over them. Not because I'm stupid.)

And she asked "Oh, another job?"

And I said "uh.. yeah".
Even though I don't have another job.

I said that I was sorry.

But after saying that, I realized how stupid it was to say that I was sorry, because there are probably hundreds of people wanting a job, and I'm just another name on that list.

And I said, "Well, not really, I guess"

Then she laughed. "Yeah"

She hung up, and I felt stupid.
Twice in the same day.

Andrew is STUPID

So I got my ACT Scores in the mail today. I wasn't sure how I did on it, but I was still hoping for the best. The best as in enough for free school. That best.

I rip open the packet in excitement. Well, sort of excitement, more of anxiousness and nervousness, but there's still some excitement in my emotion.

English- 34
Math- 33
Reading-28
Science- 33
Composite- 32

So I have to take the ACT again. dangit.
I'm not too unhappy with anything except the reading at this point.
In the practice tests I've taken, Reading's been my strongest score.
And now It's... not.

It might have been because I zoned out in the middle of the reading section for like 5 minutes.
Well, not might. It was because I zoned out in the middle of the reading section for like 5 minutes.

Anyways, I also took the writing test, and I was neither happy nor unhappy.
I have a "English/Writing" score of 32 and a 9/12 on the
Worst Essay on the Planet©
The essay was something about Fast Food and if they should serve healthier meals.
It wasn't anything special, and i can guarantee that it sucked. But apparently not that much.

According to the grader,
Your essay showed recognition of the complexity of the issue by addressing counterarguments.
Your essay showed recognition of the complexity of the issue by partially evaluating its implications.

Which are the two most generic essay comments I've ever read. No critiques, no ways to make it better. I just know that I addressed counterarguments and
partially evaluated the issue's implications. Not fully. Partially.

Anyway, all in all, I screwed up the reading and need to do better.
-Andrew

P.S. I got a call from some random college during dinnertime and asked them to call me later. I have no idea who they are or how they got my number. It's rather creepy. They said they wanted to ask a few "questions"

The Extreme Diet Coke & Mentos Experiment

Okay, So Apparently I've been missing out on a lot of fun lately, because I had no idea that this happens-

If you put a mento into a bottle of Diet Coke, they react (chemically and physically) and create an awesome explosion.

I saw this on digg and thought that I might show you, because it's superawesome. It's fountains and fountains of Diet Coke.

Rivendell Garage Sale

Doesn’t everyone love a little money-making scheme?Sterling, Jenny, Jennifer, Matt, Melanie and I are doing a business experiment of sorts.

At the Rivendell Garage Sale, which is Tomorrow Morning, We are going to be selling Cokes and Popsicles. Not for some charity, and not to benefit our school. We are selling stuff for our own personal gain. And that’s it.

Although, if anyone asks, we are studying business and economics.

We’re going to be selling cokes for 75¢, and popsicles for 25¢, but we are going to vary the price based on demand and conditions.

If we sell 100% of everything, we’ll be making $10 a piece; otherwise, the most we can lose is $5, and that is if we sell nothing at all, which we might do considering that I really really really want to go drink some of that coke.

But if you happen to be reading this before the Garage Sale is over, you should come out and get a drink, and buy it from us. We have no idea where we’re going to be yet, but you should come out and help us make some money. Besides- you’re contributing to our ‘educational process’.
